Michael Lujan

  • Role: Technical Writer for highly technical audiences.
  • Location: Avilla Beach, CA.
  • Experience: 20+ years writing programmer's guides, API documentation, macro libraries, administrator's guides, online help, and installation manuals using tools including FrameMaker, Visio, and Arbortext Publishing.
  • Subject Matter Strengths:  easy grasp of tools used by programmers, database managers, and network administrators on a variety of platforms. Also, industry strengths in telecommunications, networking, semiconductors, microelectronics, enterprise business systems, and manufacturing.
  • Education:  B.A., English, San Jose State University. Graduate courses, English, San Jose University. Also studied aeronautical operations at San Jose.
  • Professional Activites:  Member, Society for Technical Communication (almost continuously since 1995). Board member, STC's San Luis Obispo Chapter (several years since 2002). Guest lecturer on technical communication and job hunting, Cal Poly and De Anza College. Presenter on collaboration, various organizations.

Cindy Shaler

  • Role: Technical and Medical Writer
  • Location: State College, PA.
  • Experience: 20+ years of medical and technical writing, using tools including FrameMaker.
  • Recent Awards:  2008, Society for Technical Communication Award of Distinction, Technical Publication category, for a user guide she wrote for an insulin monitoring and delivery device.  2008, STC Boston's Best of Show for the same publication. 2007, Judge George Boal Education Award for a conservancy's history brochure.
  • Education:  B.A., English, Vassar College. Continuing education in information design, communications technology, publication procedures and management, and illustration.
