So you want to be a Logical Writer (or Trainer or Tester)!

Working hard, we're still coming across a lot of leads in 2009, and we need to respond quickly when a need comes up, so we need your resume! We are looking for technical communicators to expand our consulting team. This includes traditional techcomm roles and related ones as well: technical writers of all sorts, instructional designers, marketing pros, project managers, team leads, change managers, testers, scientific and manufacturing writers, people who write articles and press releases, and the like.

We plan to continue attracting the best clients by offering the best people. Beyond compensation, we offer a proven methodology, support in successfully interfacing with the client, and respect for the skills and experience you bring to the table. As we grow, we intend to be the employer of choice for technical communicators.

The consulting lifestyle

Before submitting your resume, please consider that most of our work is project based and you are compensated based on the number of hours you work. We have no salaried employees.

Projects involve crazy hours sometimes, and thin hours other times. Overall, the uneven schedule somehow works for our families and we feel good about the livings we earn. We do recognize though that this life is not for everyone.

Our markup policy

Because we would like to establish a relationship of mutual trust, we thought perhaps you would like to hear about our markup policy.

We don't add a huge markup to the rate paid to our consultants for two main reasons: (1) we feel it is unfair to the client. (2) it sometimes leads to hard feelings among consultants, which would impair our recruitment efforts. We want the best consultants, and the best consultants want to work for companies that treat them fairly.

The modest markup we charge ensures Logical's financial stability, for the benefit of our clients and consultants. Clients need the confidence that we won't close our doors with their projects half-finished because of financial instability and that they can trust us to be more concerned with their interests than our own when we make recommendations. Our stability also attracts serious consultants who can better focus on their project responsibilities and personal lives when they don't need to worry about Logical's financial condition.

By keeping things simple and relatively transparent, we can all sleep better at night.
