Mid-state professional activity growing

When I was in the Philadelphia area and nearing the end of a contract, I went on what I called a Rubber Chicken Tour. I went to meetings of any technically oriented professional organization I could find, and there were plenty. That was my not-so-secret weapon, which never failed to land me my next contract. (The tour name is a reference to the usual banquet fair and its quality.)

Of course, professional activity also is about much more than landing the next job. It is about being connected and serving our professions and the businsess community at large.

When I arrived in South Central Pennsylvania five years ago, my mid-state opportunities seemed limited.  I'm not sure if I just wasn't aware of everything that was offered, or if some great groups have taken root since then, but you should check out the list of professional organizations we just added. You might find a couple of organziationas you've never heard of before.

And if you see any of interest, don't be shy about attending a meeting . As a non-member, events might cost you a little extra, but trust me when I say you will be welcomed.
